Topic outline

  • Revit models are increasingly being used for the design of installations. It is often still a lot of work to make a material list and working drawing from the model.

Rensa family makes it easier to achieve this with the program: "Digitaal Bouwen". With products such as BOM office and BIM content creator, which are part of this program. All phases of the construction process are supported. Both programs have a Revit extension/plug-in. This extension is called the "RFC Scanner"

The RFC Scanner makes it possible to generate and facilitate a bill of materials directly from a Revit Model.

This application is freely accessible with a Rensa.nl or Gevier.nl login or Microsoft account.

  • What are the costs and why Rensa family is doing this?

    Highlighted

What are the costs for this application:

The “digitaal bouwen” applications can be used free of charge for Rensa family customers, but also for parties who want to improve their models digitally.

However, third parties cannot use Rensa family services. To do this, you need to have a Rensa family account. (This can be the account for Rensa.nl or Gevier.nl)

Alternative solutions have been made for these services, but are more intensive in terms of operations.

    New design BOM office

What's in it for the Rensa family?

Rensa family's objective is to help the installation industry achieve their sustainability goals. Rensa family believes that with better and flexible coordination, processes can be carried out more effectively compared to other competitors. Which ultimately results in lower failure costs and a dynamic working method.

  • Synchronizing the Revit model

The first step after logging in involves synchronizing the model. The model is linked to an existing or new project. In this sync, the RFA objects are scanned and analyzed. This recognition is done by the algorithm that the application has created on the parameters present per element. As a result, even a large apartment complex only takes a few minutes.

After the sync is complete, the remaining functions become available. You can now also visit the web version of the BOM office. It is now filled with data, and immediately shows the quality of your model.

Your design will be presented in 4 categories:

    • Available: Items that can be ordered from manufacturers or wholesalers.
    • Not available: Items that are no longer delivered. (Discontinued)
    • Unknown: Articles that don't contain enough information to be recognized.
    • Special: The (unknown) articles that have been marked as special by user.

  • Quick scan & Insert product data

With the "Quick scan" button, the user can make a specific selection and assess the content for LOD400 detailing. The user is informed by means of the 4 categories. This is explained under the heading "Synchronizing the Revit model".

Note: This selection can be exported using a CSV file. This selection is not saved in the BOM office. The feature is mainly intended to reassess your custom content element.

The "Insert product data"  button  standardizes the project. By means of the RFC parameters, a constant parameter designation is created, so that schedules are completely filled.

  • Prefab (Tag& schedule)

With the "Tag & Schedule" button  you can load the standard tags and schedules. These contain the rfc parameters that are populated by the application. As a result, there is a direct relationship between the schedules and the tags.  Note: This action must be performed 1 time per project or they are included in your Revit template by default.

With the "Prefab" button  you can convert the selected items to a prefab assembly within the Revit application. There are three different selection options for the prefab function.

Note: By using the prefab template in our Revit add-in, you need to define the structure of a prefab sheet once. The next time, the desired views and schedules will be automatically created under your prefab assembly

  • Schedule to order

The "Schedule" function allows the user to define a bill of materials based on a visual selection. This selection can be formulated in three ways.  After the selection has been recorded and linked to a description, this selection can be viewed in the BOM offices.

In the BOM office, the bill of materials is converted into an order. During this conversion, the BOM office checks the bill of materials for a few checks. The result of the checks is presented in a clear overview.

Here is an overview of actions and checks

    1. The bills of materials from project units to requisition units.
    2. We take into account the leftovers (over order) from previous order.
    3. Do we differentiate between individual components and prefabricated elements
    4. We show the user which wholesaler can supply this.
    5. We show the items that cannot be delivered by the affiliated wholesalers.

But above all: which items have been ordered.  So they don't get ordered a second time!
